New IT infrastructure environment launching this weekend

Sent by the CIO of the Commonwealth to all agency heads, AITRs and ISOs:

This weekend marks an important milestone for the Commonwealth of Virginia as we move to a multisupplier information technology (IT) infrastructure environment. This achievement reflects several years of effort and coordination by and between agencies, the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA), Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) and our other suppliers.

This multisourced environment will provide for improved services and opportunities for new, agile and transparent services that better meet the needs of agencies

On Monday, a communication will be sent by the Department of Human Resource Management informing all executive branch employees about the new service portal. Also on Monday, you can expect to see the following changes:

·         New VITA service portal

o    User-friendly web-based access to the VITA Customer Care Center (VCCC or service desk) services and ticket status

o    Transparent and available data, creating visibility into business issues and solutions

o    Customizable reports based on real-time data

o    Access to the VCCC 24x7 by phone and email will continue to be available at all times

·         New online VITA service catalog

o    Simple, streamlined ordering with an “Amazon-like” experience

o    New and modern services as they become available

To provide you with ongoing information about this transition, an informational website found here provides course materials, videos and answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs). If you have any challenges or issues during the cutover, the command bridge will be available 24x7 for your support: (800) 366-7242 meeting number 2088466.

Again, thank you for your continued support and cooperation during this transition. We truly are moving into a new era of IT services for the commonwealth.
