New VITA billing, chargeback will provide IT spend transparency for agencies

Good afternoon.

 

A new information technology financial management (ITFM) tool providing IT spend transparency for your agencies will be available in June. Your staff will be able to view and drill down into your comprehensive VITA bill and manage chargebacks online. Your first VITA bill will be available June 19, with bills following the 13th business day of each month. 

 

The new ITFM tool provides: 

 

·       A comprehensive bill of IT services  Your agency’s consolidated, comprehensive bill will be available online. It will support drill-down capabilities so that you can view supporting details for invoice items. For example, server/storage/disaster recovery services details include, among other items, asset tags, serial numbers, status, model and location. 

·       An enterprise chargeback summary report – You also can drill down into a listing by tower and sub tower of services provided the prior month.

With a change of this type, we expect agencies to experience a transition period. Your finance staff must become familiar with a new system and functionsAdditional transparency into your IT spend will be valuable, but that also may raise new questions and concerns. VITA is offering training to ensure your finance staff members are prepared, and we will work with your team to resolve any initial challenges they may encounterFinance professionals will receive an invitation to the training.
