To Agency Heads and AITRs:

VITA marks significant achievement by signing final two multisourced infrastructure contracts; awards made for end-user and print services

The Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) has awarded the final two contracts moving toward the multisourced information technology (IT) infrastructure environment.

VITA awarded a five-year $189.8 million contract to Iron Bow Technologies for end-user computing services such as personal computers, laptops and tablets and a five-year $30.2 million contract to Xerox for managed print services.

Awarding these two final contracts marks significant success in VITA’s efforts to modernize and enhance technology services for state executive branch agencies and our 55,000+ employees. When this new model is fully implemented, your agencies will be better able to serve the citizens and businesses of the commonwealth.

VITA began this journey in 2015 when we realized the need to move from one long-term infrastructure services provider to multiple suppliers with shorter term contracts. VITA has completed the procurements it said it would. Next steps include setting up the infrastructure with a multisourcing service integrator, which will coordinate, monitor and report to VITA on activities of suppliers. VITA will continue oversight to ensure governance, project management and security standards are met and its services meet your business needs efficiently and effectively.

VITA subject matter experts and procurement staff led the effort, with essential input from agency representatives. They developed the requirements and requests for proposals (RFP). The in-depth reviews and evaluations of the proposals submitted required several months of dedicated effort. Let me add, VITA staff members have been dedicated to this project since the beginning, and I admire their hard work and dedication. We also are appreciative of the input and time provided by staff from agencies.

Iron Bow Technologies is a global IT company based in Herndon, VA. Iron Bow is a leading IT solution provider “dedicated to successfully transforming technology investments into business capabilities for government, commercial and healthcare clients.” The company’s “depth of technical expertise, global reach and strategic partnerships with industry leaders as well as disruptive technology partners uniquely positions Iron Bow to target the right solution to ensure successful business outcomes.”

Xerox is a global IT company based in Norwalk, CT. Xerox offers “business services, document management and workflow solutions to help businesses and governments work better.” Its offerings include the integration of paper and digital through print technology and intelligent work solutions “to innovate the way the world communicates, connects and works.”

VITA already has awarded contracts for messaging, mainframe, multisourcing service integrator, managed security, network and server storage, and voice and video network services.
